Arizona Auto & Radiator Repair has job openings available for a Shop Assistant. We're looking for honest, dedicated,
customer-service oriented people to join our team at Sierra Vista, AZ.
Shop Assistants are responsible for maintaining the facility, including offices, shop and lots in a
clean and orderly condition. A successful Shop Assistant will have a strong attention to detail and a
dedication to honesty and fairness.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Shop Upkeep:
- Pick up loose cardboard, flatten and place in bin
- Pick up dirty red rags and place in bucket
- Clean up oil and antifreeze off the floor with red rags
- Shop floors:
- Spot clean and sweep daily
- Mop when needed (oil spot etc)
- Vacuum under mats as needed
- Clean air hoses with brake cleaner
- Clean side panels of the hoist
- Empty garbage cans daily or as needed
- Shop, office, bathroom upkeep
Outside of Shop Upkeep:
- Pull weeds, clean up garbage waste out of flower beds, on curb and parking lot
- Place all debris in garbage bags
Organize Equipment:
- Floor jack, jack stands, fuel cans, motorvac/AC machines, shop vac, 4-gas analyzer, hose, oil catches, test equipment
- Danny's tools - put away as needed
Stock Parts:
- Oil storage:
- Keep track of all oil inventory; advise Service Advisor if low
- Count new cases
- Old oil management:
- Empty oil containers
- Empty brake fluid pumps
- Clean oil areas
- Process used oil filters
- Tranny - make sure we have ATF; advise Service Advisor if low
- Oil filters we stock
- Hoses and clamps
- Light bulbs
- Washers for oil plugs
- Grease for brakes
- Silicone; black, gray: RTV
- Cans of fluid: brake cleaner, brake fluid, carb cleaner
- Keep parts washer filled with water
- Empty tranny machine after use
- Check oil bins and tanks to see if they need to be emptied (advise Service Advisor if they are close to full)
Car Upkeep:
- Oil sticker update: check to see what vehicles need oil change
- Air up tires: our cars and customer cars
- Vacuum and wash customer's cars when requested
General Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Capable of assuming responsibility
- Able to work without supervision
- Possess a valid state drivers license and maintain it
- Speak fluent English
- Bondable
- Read and write English language
- Write legibly
- Be dependable
- Be enthusiastic
- Able to work flexible hours
- Able to lift 60 pounds
Specific Responsibilities:
- Report problem areas to management
- Notify management of possession and/or use of illegal drugs by customer or employee
- Park and lock all vehicles in an orderly fashion in designated areas
- Maintain a good working relationship with all personnel
- Request work assignment if out of work
- Maintain lot free of dirt, litter, debris and wash down as requested
- Empty all trash barrels daily
- Clean shop area including floors, workbenches, walls and equipment
- Wash customer vehicles only when requested
- Run errands the shop, i.e., parts and supply pick up, as efficiently as possible
- Shuttle customers as requested
- Assist technicians with work on customer cars - as knowledge permits
- Perform oil changes and vehicle inspections
